Education Productions

This page showcases work produced by partner organizations and/or our staff

serving education efforts in our community.

English Literacy / ESL

Literacy Services of Wisconsin (LSW) and volunteers helped us renovate our classrooms, LSW then develop a preliterate curriculum for Rohingya students. These efforts began our ESL programs in 2021.

Community Center For Immigrants (CCI) currently hosts ESL and Citizenship classes at REC and participate in a wide variety of direct service and support projects.

Local Schools and Universities partner with BRCW for tutoring/service learner fieldwork partnerships, Milwaukee Public School system support.

Rohingya Language & Literacy

BRCW is preserving the Rohingya language by promoting literacy in the Rohingya language.  We can teach using the newest version of the Rohingya English Dictionary.

Through partnership with ILAD Rohingya Programs and Books Unbound, BRCW uses and is beginning to produce Rohingya literacy & education programs, see links for current works!

Partnership with Sesame Workshop saw the production of over 125 Rohingya episodes, and 6 Rohingya Workbooks, an absolutely remarkable production, standing as the perhaps largest Rohingya education catalogue ever created.

Digital Literacy

BRCW is deploying innovative DynEd software, providing ESL students at-home and in-person courses.  Making education as accessible as possible.  Read more about DynEd here.

We advocate for Rohingya Digital Literacy needs through public speaking/convenings, writing, curriculum development, and providing direct services to our community.

BRCW receives and donates equipment, and delivers tech services and support, particularly during the pandemic and navigating lockdowns/remote school.  Our digital literacy lab will be opening soon!

Cultural Orientation

Newcomers have a lot to learn in their journeys as Americans, and for Americans to learn about newcomers.  Please read the Rohingya Backgrounder - written in partnership with BRCW, CORE and IRC.

Public Speaking is a consistent theme in how we produce and deliver cultural orientation geared towards the technical workforce and other interested parties.

Much of our work is helping our community navigate US systems, understanding laws and norms.  We perform interpreting, translating, advise and explain US systems to our community since even before founding BRCW in 2016.
