Pop-Up Health Screenings @REC Center
This partnership brings together BRCW, TRIUMPH medical students from UW School of Medicine, and local health professionals to provide our community access to free basic screenings, facetime with medical professionals and interpreters, and contextualized health information. Food and donations are provided at events too!
Community Mental Health Projects

This partnership between BRCW, Dr. Sebastian Family Psychology, and Dr. Zhao saw an exploration into Rohingya mental health dynamics by conducting research (linked below),
hosting panel discussions including mental health and Rohingya community mental health and education direct Service providers, performing community outreach, responding to escalations, and planning mental health and support service expansion at BRCW.
Rohingya & Burmese Health Videos

Our partnership with TRIUMPH medical students saw students find and vet Rohingya and Burmese language health videos and put them into an easy to use file and provided to Hospitals and other healthcare providers to share with their Burmese clients. BRCW went a step furthur and put all the individual videos and made them into playlists on the BRCW YouTube Channel.
COVID 19 Pandemic Relief

BRCW responded to the COVID 19 pandemic and looming lockdowns by shifting to creating digital media and outreach avenues in the place of in-person during the imposed lockdown and social restrictions.
The first health events at BRCW were vaccination outreach events beginning the week after we received our occupancy permit in July, 2021. The following years saw over 1,000 vaccines delivered during our health events, and BRCW founder, Mohamed Anwar being awarded the 2022 Immunization Champion of Wisconsin.
Food Security & Nutrition

BRCW programs include addressing food security and nutrition for Burmese newcomers in Wisconsin. By hosting regularly scheduled culturally appropriate food donations as well as a stocked food pantry we provide our community welcome resources.
Our plans include broader partnerships to build community farming and gardens, home gardening support, and increased access to farmers markets and other fresh and healthy food.
Health Workforce Technical Assistance - Cultural Navigation

BRCW staff have presented to many healthcare workforces, from local hospitals and clinics, with insurance companies, local non-profits and for local and state governmental programs. Some of these agencies benefit from the information we share and plan for better service arrangements with our community.
BRCW openly accepts working partnerships that stand to increase positive health outcomes and demonstrate effective service provisioning.
